Cat Health Fleas
The cat health will deteriorate if fleas are found on it. The flea that is commonly found in cat is called cat flea and the zoological name of the same is Ctenocephalides felis. Hedgehog fleas and rabbit fleas can also be seen in the cat but very rarely.
Need for flea control
Cat health and flea presence are inversely related. These fleas can transmit diseases to the cat. For example the cat flea can host the larval stage of the tape worm [dipylidium caninum]. There are so many other diseases that are transmitted by the fleas to the cats. More so the adult cat fleas feed on the blood of the cat thus making them anemic. In some cats these cat fleas cause itching. As the result the cat start scratching excessively thus paving the way for skin diseases.
Since the cat flea`s health hazards are many, they need to be killed in order to protect the health of the cat. There are so many ways of doing it. Here they are.
Adult Flea Killing
There are so many products are available in the market that take care cat fleas and are very effective in destroying the adult fleas in the cat. These products vary in the formulation, time taken for the action, the usage procedure and of course the cost. These chemicals need to be purchased and used as per the direction [mostly dipping] of the manufacturers to destroy the fleas in total.
Making the environment free from fleas
Vacuum bags can certainly help to limit the flea population from the environment if not to eliminate the fleas completely. These vacuum bags thus in a way protect cat health by flea killing. These vacuum bags need to be removed as when required i.e. after collection of sufficient fleas. Any material that belong to the pet cat requires immediate removal if found to be infested heavily.
Prevention of re-infestation
Using long acting medicine that kills the adult flea is the best because once the adult fleas are killed then there wont be any egg laying. Treating the house in total is the other best option. But this method has its own shortfalls. The first and foremost is the cost of the treatment, which is high. The other one is that the larval stages and the pre- emerged insects seek the protection under the carpet piles and other delicate places; hence the possibility of the chemical reaching them in those places is difficult.
